The Iron Furnace Trail
Conceived and Designed in 1983, by Scoutmaster, Freddie Withers
and Assistant Scoutmaster, Bobby Thomas.

The complete trail has a length of 12.5 miles,
Trek through the beautiful mountains of Estill County, and
Visit 6 Pig Iron Furnace sites, remnants of the early 1900's
Iron Ore production in the mountains of Kentucky.

The alternate trail has a length of 5 miles,
visits two Furnace sites, and contains the more
rugged portion of the trail.
